Korea intercity travel preparation

Check the train, station, and seat before travel day.

A destination name alone is not enough. Put the operator, exact stations, departure date and time, train number, car, seat, passenger, and booking source on one card.

Read the ticket as a set of separate facts

VISITKOREA's current train guide lists several train types and notes that different routes can use Seoul Station, Yongsan Station, Cheongnyangni Station, or Suseo Station. It also points travelers to the responsible booking service, including KORAIL for KTX and conventional trains and a separate SRT service.

Schedules, platforms, booking rules, and service details can change. Use the current operator ticket or app as the final source for the actual trip. This card is a preparation tool, not a ticket, boarding pass, or service guarantee.

Your seven-line train ticket card

  1. Operator and booking source: Write who operates the train and where the confirmed ticket is stored. Do not rely only on a search result or advertisement.
  2. Departure and arrival stations: Copy the full station names from the ticket. Check the city and station separately.
  3. Date and departure time: Include the year and weekday. Mark whether the time shown is departure, arrival, or a suggested station-arrival time.
  4. Train number: Record the exact number or service identifier so staff can help without guessing from the destination.
  5. Car and seat: Copy both fields. If the ticket does not assign a seat, write that clearly instead of inventing one.
  6. Passenger and party check: Confirm that each traveler has the correct ticket information and that the group is not split across a different train or station.
  7. Change route: Save the operator's current help route and write one open question about changes, cancellation, boarding, luggage, or accessibility.

Do a two-person readback

One person reads the card without showing the ticket. The second person checks every field against the confirmed booking. Correct any mismatch in the card, not in the original ticket. Then choose a station meeting point and an arrival buffer that fit the real trip.

Fictional card: Operator: check the confirmed booking. Departure: exact station name from ticket. Date and time: Saturday, morning departure. Train number, car and seat: copy from each traveler's ticket. Open question: where does the operator publish a same-day change? This example remains incomplete until the real ticket is checked.

Keep the station plan separate

The ticket card answers which train to take. It does not explain how the group will reach the station or find one another inside it. Use the Seoul subway meeting-point card for a precise meeting place. For arrival from the airport, use the Incheon airport transfer facts card.

Bring the real ticket details
