Before your Korea trip

Can you show your destination when your phone has no data?

A saved link may still need a connection. Before departure, test whether you can open the few details you would need to show another person.

Choose three details worth keeping available

Start with the destination's official name and address, your agreed meeting place and time, and the organizer's agreed contact details. If the venue supplies a Korean name and address, preserve that exact version alongside the English version. Do not reconstruct an unfamiliar address from memory.

Use a local note, a downloaded document, a screenshot, or a small paper copy that you can actually open or read. Keep the source and the date you checked it. A booking reference or live ticket may have separate access rules: a screenshot of it is not automatically a valid ticket or proof that a booking remains unchanged.

Try a five-minute rehearsal at home

  1. Prepare one destination. Save its confirmed name, address and the relevant meeting detail. Remove unrelated private messages from any screenshot.
  2. Test without a connection. At a convenient time, briefly turn off mobile data and Wi-Fi using your device's controls. Do this before travel, when you are not expecting an important call or using the phone for an urgent task.
  3. Close and reopen. Open the note or file again. Can you find the full address without following an internet link? Can you make it large enough for another person to read?
  4. Mark the result. Write "opens offline," "needs internet," or "not tested" beside each item. Replace anything important that fails with an accessible local or paper copy.
  5. Restore your connection. Turn mobile data and Wi-Fi back on as appropriate. Recheck the live venue or organizer information before the real journey.

A map download has limits

Google Maps' official help says offline map downloads are unavailable in some countries or regions. It also says offline transit, walking and cycling directions are unavailable. Check the service, region and mode you actually plan to use; do not assume a download button elsewhere proves your Korea journey will work offline.

A static address or map image can help you show a location. It cannot provide current disruption notices, confirm an entrance is open, or send a message. A saved contact number is useful information, but it does not prove your device can call it. Check calling and data arrangements with your provider separately.

Rehearse showing the information

With a travel partner, start from the phone's home screen. Find the saved destination and point to its name and address. Your partner asks one English question: "Is this where you are going, or where you are meeting someone?" Clarify the difference before practicing the Korean wording with a teacher.

Use the name and address practice to prepare what you will show. For a subway meeting, confirm the details with the meeting-point guide. The offline rehearsal checks access to your information; those guides help you check its meaning.

Bring the situation you want to handle

Tell Ashley where you expect to use Korean and what you need to explain. You can discuss a short personal or group preparation lesson and confirm scope, availability and fee.
