Before your Korea trip
The hotel cannot find your booking. What will you show first?
Prepare the information behind the conversation, not just a sentence to memorize.
Make one private reservation card
Before leaving, locate the confirmation from the hotel or booking service you actually used. Copy the following details into a note you can find without searching your whole inbox. Check them against the confirmation rather than relying on memory.
- Property: exact hotel name, branch and address from the confirmation.
- Guest: name exactly as it appears on the reservation, including whose name was used if someone booked for you.
- Stay: check-in and check-out dates written with the month spelled out to avoid an ambiguous number-only date.
- Reference: booking number and the service through which you booked.
- Contact: the property's or booking service's support route from your original confirmation.
Keep this note private. Do not put it in a public worksheet or group post. For practice, replace real names and booking numbers with invented examples; your teacher does not need a passport image or payment details to rehearse the conversation.
A six-minute rehearsal with a travel partner
- Minutes 1-2: show the right detail. Your partner asks for the name, dates or reference, in a different order each time. Find just that detail on your practice card. Do not hand over an unlocked inbox full of unrelated messages.
- Minutes 3-4: explain one problem. In your strongest shared language, say what you expected and what needs checking. For example: "I have a reservation under this name. Could we check the dates?" This is an English rehearsal prompt, not a Korean translation.
- Minutes 5-6: confirm the next step. Your partner suggests checking another name or contacting the booking service. Say back the action you understood. If you missed it, ask for it again instead of pretending you followed.
Then choose the Korean you actually need
Bring the communication task to a lesson: saying your name clearly, recognizing a question about dates, showing a reference, or asking someone to repeat. Ask a teacher to help you choose language suited to your level. You do not need to memorize a long complaint before you can practice showing the correct information.
If you are starting from zero, use the free speaking sample to practice introducing yourself. Then identify the next question you would find difficult. Keep the practice focused on that gap.
Separate language help from the booking decision
This card cannot confirm that a reservation is valid, secure a room, or decide a refund. Check any booking terms and proposed changes with the property or booking service through its verified contact route. Do not infer a universal Korean hotel rule from this exercise.
Prepare one real travel conversation
Tell Ashley which part of arrival you want to practice and your current Korean level. Leave booking references and sensitive documents out of your inquiry. Scope, availability and fee are discussed separately.
